David is a self-taught artist based in Cambridge. David cannot help but notice contrast. He is drawn to light and dark; how it communicates depth and form, clarity and intrigue, particularly in relation to the everyday, the ordinary that is often overlooked or taken for granted.
His inspiration comes from experiences of being outdoors, of being places that have meaning for him. In his work he uses colour and tone to try and capture some of nature’s atmospheric mood and energy. Whether broad brush or fine detail, he uses paint to translate onto paper a feel of nature, its splendour, simplicity and spirit.
