Catherine Smith
Catherine Smith has a BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design from Northumbria University and worked as a graphic designer and on community arts projects in the north east before moving to Suffolk. Finding more time to devote to painting and drawing she started exhibiting her paintings in 2015 with the encouragement of Echo Arts and more recently SEAW. Since then she has been selected for exhibitions in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. In 2017 she won the Cambridge News Award for an Outstanding Contemporary Watercolour. Catherine is a member of Suffolk Open Studios.
Catherine’s recent paintings and drawings reflect her interest in linear journeys in East Anglia, and further afield. They include both observational studies, landscapes and more abstract responses. They are “traces of where I have been”.
