Jan Couling

Born near the Essex coast and now living on the Essex/Suffolk border, Jan knows the local landscape well and finds it a great inspiration for her work.

She has been working professionally as an artist since 2005, exhibiting widely in East Anglia and running general informal art workshops in her local area.

Her subjects are many and varied, from landscapes and coastal views to farm animals and wildlife. She has an acute eye for detail and delights in bringing out the character of her animal subjects. She paints mainly in watercolours and acrylics, but also works with pastels and experiments with mixed media.

Jan is also a member of the Suffolk Art Society, Clare Art Club, the Cambridge Drawing Society and Suffolk Open Studios.
