After a few experiments with Zoom and other video conferencing applications, the committee have paid for and set up a Virtual Studio where SEAW Friends and Members can paint together.

Unlike Zoom, which relies on meeting times, the programme we are using is called Whereby.com and works as a room that is always there for people to meet in. At any time of the day you can message another member and ask them to join you in the studio, or you can post a note in the Facebook group to say you’re heading over to paint if you want some company. Or you can join us on our regular Sunday afternoon painting day session from 2pm to 5pm (or any amount of that time you fancy chatting and painting).

All you need is a device with a web browser and a camera/microphone – then click this link and follow the instructions.

If you would like a more quiet atmosphere on the Sunday, or the regular studio is full, you can use the quiet studio by clicking here

Joining a room on Whereby

You can log in with video or just with audio. No need to sign up for an account or download an app unless you want to. It is free (the SEAW has the cost covered) and it’s a great way to share ideas and get motivated to paint. Even if you don’t have this link – just go to whereby.com and click on the join a room button. Type in: seaw or seaw_quiet_studio and you will be directed to the room.

There is a limit to 12 people in the room at one time, so if you have trouble joining, try again later, and see if someone has left, or set up a time to meet other members.

We ask that you keep your invitations to meet up strictly to SEAW Friends and Members who want to paint together. If you want to connect to other people using Whereby, then sign up and set up a free room of your own. It’s so easy, a lot of our members and friends have set up rooms to meet far flung family for chats.

We are thankful for the chance to connect and create – see you in the studio.
