Workshops at Waterways 2022
Watercolour and collage
LESLEY MUNRO
Monday 5 September
10:00 am – 3:30 pm
In this workshop Lesley will tap into a number of ways to get beyond the limitations of using watercolour alone by being intuitive and spontaneous with collage.
You will be exploring how to loosen up, look closely and make observations using discarded drawings and paintings, scraps and different papers.
This workshop is suitable for those that are new to collage/mixed media but have experience of drawing techniques and painting and wish to build their confidence and unlock creative freedom in their work.
Wet into wet skies
ANTHONY OSLER
Monday 12 September
10:00 am – 3:30 pm
Anthony Osler has been painting the seas, skies, boats and atmosphere of East Anglia professionally for many years and enjoys passing on his methods of working to others, both experienced and beginners. This workshop is a combination of demonstration and application and consists of painting wet-into-wet skies, capturing atmosphere and working quickly, with foreground scenes added when dry.
Participants will go away with a finished painting plus some new approaches to try in their own studios.
Boats at the quay
SURINDER BEERH
Monday 19 September
10:00 am – 3:30 pm
Painting activities will include the drawing of the boats moored in Gloucester Quay with all the rigging and masts linking the boats together. Two figures are introduced repairing the boats, bringing about the human interaction in the painting. The reflections in the water will show the blurred image of the boats and the figures. The sky and water will also be tackled to create atmosphere in the painting. Finally the highlights are added on the painting to bring about the completed product.
ALL WORKSHOPS: NON-MEMBERS £55 | FRIENDS £50 | MEMBERS £45
