WATERWAYS 2021 workshops

Watercolour Flower Painting
with Denise Schoenberg

Monday September 6
10:30 am – 3:30 pm

A relaxing and creative day painting flowers with watercolour. This workshop will focus on painting in a semi-loose style.

Big Fenland skies
with Anthony Osler

Tuesday September 7
10:00 am – 1:00 pm

This workshop is a combination of demonstration and application and consists of painting wet-into-wet skies and foreground scenes added.

Boats at Pin Mill

Thursday September 9
10:00 am – 1:00 pm

The workshop will cover painting the sky, background, foreground, water and a figure or two. Finishing with masts, rigging, and highlights.

Watercolour Portraits

Monday September 13
10:30 am – 4:00 pm

The class will focus on the face, how to portray feelings and emotions in the subject using Stephie’s colourful impressionistic technique.

Sketchbook Ely

A full day of plein air sketching Ely, guided by two plein air painting experts.

 Tap into a number of ways to get beyond self - imposed limitations by being intuitive and spontaneous with collage.

Working in Series

Tuesday September 21

Explore working with colour and mark-making and in the process learn how to develop working in a series using the river as inspiration.

Perspective Drawing
with Linda Purdy

Wednesday September 22
10:00 am – 1:00 pm

This workshop will look at how to represent a three-dimensional subject onto a two-dimensional surface. Perspective made easy.

Loose Ink and Watercolour
with Jackie Devereux

Thursday September 23
10:00 am – 1:00 pm

This workshop is designed to encourage participants to relax through experimenting. There are no constraints, just pure unadulterated discoveries.

Coffee and tea will be available in the mornings, and at lunch time for the Monday workshops. Lunch and other snacks are not included.

Each workshop has a list of materials that is required, please ensure you receive that information once you have made your booking for the workshop. If you do not get the list, please contact is by email: and we will resend it.

In one case, the tutor will provide all the materials and we ask that attendees pay a £5 materials fee directly to the tutor on the day to cover costs.

Painting days

Painting days for members and Friends take place from 10am to 4pm. Unless otherwise stated, please bring your lunch, your latest painting, art supplies and £5 contribution to venue costs. There is no need to book a place.
