Rob Ellis

Rob has never studied art and started painting in 2017 so everything is still rather new to him and so far he’s only tried watercolour.

He tries not to limit himself to a particular genre and enjoys setting himself challenges to paint what could be difficult subjects with a view to working out for himself the best way to do things – though he’s always keen to see how others approach them.

He doesn’t feel comfortable ceding too much control to paint and water so you will observe that his images are fairly tightly controlled representations of what he sees and he always works from his own photographs where possible.

He wants to involve the viewer in the narratives of his paintings so puts as much effort into thinking of titles as he puts into his painting!
