In a previous statement I mentioned my interest in what I called sequencing in watercolour composition. During the two years since, I have asked myself what is being sequenced in particular? I have noticed in some watercolours, confusion between elements such as transparent areas of colour and the inclusion and exclusion of linear defining areas.
In this more recent work I have discovered a way to give more definition. This has evolved into a process of spacing between shapes, in an attempt to control and eliminate the confusion just mentioned; I call it ‘Sequence Spacing’
