Anthony Osler

Anthony was born in Ipswich in 1938 and was educated at Northgate Grammar School, Ipswich; The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester; and Southampton University. He started painting at the age of 29 after accidentally coming across a small book entitled “Starting with Watercolour” by Rowland Hilder. Being passionate about boats and the East Coast in particular, this was the subject he chose to pursue. He became a full time painter at the age of 55 and is well known for his atmospheric maritime watercolours and oils.

He has exhibited widely in this country as well as in France and the USA, and has had many one man shows, including one in Paris. In London he is represented by the Alexander Miles Gallery, and his work can also be seen at the Southwold Gallery and at the Francis Iles Gallery in Rochester.

Anthony is a past committee member of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists and is Past President of the Felixstowe Art Group.

He is available for oil or watercolour demonstrations and workshops. He lives on the Norfolk/Suffolk border near Diss and as often as possible he is out on his yacht, “Selene”, gathering reference material and soaking up the ever changing East Coast Atmosphere.
