Surinder Beerh

I trained as a Chartered Accountant in the City of London and worked most of my life for a couple of Lloyd’s Broking houses- insurance/ reinsurance. First as a finance director and then as a CEO. I travelled extensively round the world on business and My interest for art grew from there. After 40years of hectic lifestyle I retired in 2012. I wanted to do something to keep busy . I found an art class at a local art school in St Ives. I fell in love with watercolour pretty soon having never painted before. I am self taught. Tried oils, acrylic and other mediums but nothing could touch watercolour.
I have been on workshops with Joseph Zbukvic , Alvaro Castagnet , Herman Pekel , Ian McManus ,Ray Barkwill and Chien Chung Wei.
I am always inspired by the works of Turner,John Singer Sargent and Winslow Holmer.
I do like Marine subjects and thus my paintings are mainly ports, harbours, estuaries and places by the water.
Art is never an easy journey. One always “Needs the brush mileage “
