Anthony likes to paint in watercolour in a representational way and has been interested in depicting the beauty he sees, in the natural and built environment for some years. He has enjoyed the challenge of trying to show his landscapes and buildings scenes bathed in strong light and shade, aiming to show the awesome qualities of what he observes.
An important landmark in his life, was when he was a finalist in the Singer & Friedlander: The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition in 1999. Anthony’s work, Gymnasium, Sardis, was shown at the Mall Galleries, London, among others.
Anthony is a member of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists. He was elected as a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society and he exhibits his work with both societies.
Anthony was awarded the Tindalls Award in 2016 and the Royal Watercolour Society President’s Award in 2017 for his paintings Amphitheatre, Pompeii and Summer Meadow respectively, at the Selected Exhibitions run by the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists.
